Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

possesion of less than 2 grams

My husband was stopped in Chicago 4/26/03 for running a yellow light. He had no liscense so they arrested him. He had a minnesota warrant from a charge from 2000 for possession of less than 2grams. It was a failure to appear. I am aware that minnesota has 30 days to come and get him but I have a feeling they wont be for a small charge, he has been waiting for 2 weeks now. I think they they will just let him sit here in jail for the 30 days and then he will be released. My husband is wondering if he can transfer his case here to Chicago since we live here and take care of it from here ? He has no prior convictions this was his first offense.

Nobody can stay in jail without a hearing or being charged with something - your husband should discuss these issues with his attorney.
