Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Pretrial diversion programs for 1st time offender, felony shoplifting Chicago
Pre-trial diversion programs for first time offender with felony shoplifting charge in Chicago.
I was charged with felony shoplifting in March at a department store in Chicago. I'm a first-time offender with absolutely no prior record (arrests, driving etc.). I have a master's degree and a very good job with an impeccable record.
My attorney is confident that my charges will be reduced to Misdemeanor but not sure if it can be dismissed altogether.
My case is in 'Discovery' phase currently. I want to explore any adult pretrial diversion programs that might be available so that I do not have to plead guilty and have my charges dismissed.
Please help!
