Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Hello,

I have a problem with an ex-coworker. I had an arguement with this worker, and she quit . Now she is claiming that I hit her. I have also heard she is calling and telling people that I body slammed her, shoved her, and the latest one is that I slammed her against a cooler and is saying she was hurt as a result of it. When she quit she never said anything to anyone including our boss. There were 4 other workers there when this arguement went on and all 4 said that I never touched her. I work for a school and don't need all these lies going around about me. Is there anyway to get her to stop or should I sue her for slander?

Thank you for your time.

Hello. This is a very serious situation. I suggests that you file a lawsuit against your former co-worker for slander. Many people do not realize that slander suits can and are filed. Clearly, a slander suit filed in good faith will encourage the offender to stop and then you have a chance to seek the recovery of damages to your reputation.
