Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Raid on House
I assume this is criminal law. I co-signed for a house for my niece. Her boyfriend lives with her. I understand that the house was raided by the police and they were looking for drugs. If they found drugs in the house can she lose the house? Can she also go to jail? If the house can be confiscated what is my liablity? Thank you for any help you can give. I am totally distraught and too old for this.

Re: Raid on House
There is a possibility that the house could be labeled a disorderly house and subject to a hearing to determine if it should be forefeited to the city. That seldom happens, especially if the boyfriend is evicted. It usually takes repeated violations. If you have problems, please call me for a free consultation.
