Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I receive a called from my sister saying a police officer left his number for me. When I call him he told me it was a warrant for my arrest for battery on a eleven year old girl he said it was a misdemeanor and I needed to turn myself in. Is that possible. My daughter was jumped on by six girls and one of the girls said I hit her. We was in the jail house for this in intervention and the officer seen that the girl was not telling the truth so they let us go. This happen in june it's now middle of sept. no court date was issued so how was a warrant issue. How long would I have to stay in jail I never been in jail I'm so confused. Please help me understand this I am just a mother of 3.

You need to hire an attorney. The attorney can help either get the warrant cancelled or make arrangements for your voluntary surrender and quick release from custody. The attorney may also be able to defend the charge against you, or at least negotiate a plea bargain that will be to your advantage.
