Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Reduction of Bond After the Defendant is released

IS it possible to reduce the bond after the inmate has already posted a bond? I was charged with home invasion and unlawful restraint. On the day of my bond hearing...The judge got up on the wrong side of the bed and gave me a $500,000 bond. In which I could post $50,000 to be free. I had no prior record and have a job and have a college degree. My family is not very wealthy but they knew i could not be in jail. They gathered the money from many friends and got me out. But I was wondering since I already posted the money is there still a possibility I can have that bond reduced and have some of that money returned to me ? Or will I have to wait to the end of this case ?

725 ILCS 5/110 is the citation for the legal authority under which you could file a motion to reduce bond. "Upon verified application by the State or the defendant or on its own motion the court before which the proceeding is pending may increase or reduce the amount of bail or may alter the conditions of the bail bond or grant bail where it has been previously revoked or denied." Thus, this is a legitimate motion which can be filed. Please call me if you have any more questions. I am a former prosecutor.
