Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I have a relative that got convinced to try escorting as a way out of a financial mess. She got busted almost immediately because the man who talked her into it is an idiot. All the money was taken and now that the court case is coming up; he convinced her again to go out and help him make money to hire a lawyer. This man is bad news and has done this with several women. Can we anonymously call the DA and let them now he went right back out and started "pimping" again? If we do, will my relative also get in trouble?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Your relative could potentially protect herself as a victim of sex trafficking/pimping by cooperating with the authorities but this will have to be negotiated with the prosecutors. As it stands, she is charged with a criminal offense and will be prosecuted for it.
