Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
What are the possible repercussions of ordering and owning a fake drivers license? Can you order and own one, with no intent to use it illegally, and be in the clear? My friends and I ordered some for a film we were making, but there has been a big cracking down in my area and high school/college students were receiving misdemeanors just for ordering them. I understood that it was legal to own one but not to use it for purchasing alcohol, boarding a plane, stealing an identity, etc. etc. We put our own names on them so we could not get charged with identity theft.
