my question is if you give a statement to a police officer and they right down a diferent thing that i said can they still use it in court. ok i will explain the officer asked me how long i've know my boyfriend and i told him like 2 years and i told him i've known his mom for 8 or 9 years not my boyfriend his mom but the police officer put down that i've known my boyfriend for 8 or 9 years.

Hello. Yes, the police officer can use the statement in court against you even if he wrote the statement down incorrectly. That is why it is so important to realize that you have the right to remain silent. However, you should get an attorney if charges are brought against you for some reason. A motion to suppress could be a helpful tool in this instance. The motion requests that the court not consider or not allow a jury to consider or hear the police officer's written report because you were talking to the officer without the benefit of an attorney's advice, or you were not read your rights. This can be tricky so you definitely need an attorney, if you are facing criminal charges for some reason. However, remember that you have a right to remain silent when questioned by a police officer, but you should give your name. Statements made by you can be used against you in a court of law based upon what the officer heard, thinks he heard or how he interprets what he hears.
