Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Restitution
I have been ordered to pay restitution for money lost. I have been told that the person receiving the restitution has received an insurance check for part of that money. The money that I have paid exceeds the total amount owed. The question...Do I need to keep paying? How long does he have to report that insurance payment? What happens to the overage that has been paid to him?

Re: Restitution
You must call your attorney and ask him/her to call the insurqance company in order to make sure that the money paid by you goes to the insurance company and that you are released from any civil liability; also, your attormey can go back to court (?) and ask that the amount of restitution be lowered.
