Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Shoplifting

I bought some earrings a while back from walmart. I went to walmart and was wearing them. I was going to buy some more similar or the same ones. I went to the jewlery dept. and found the pairs i wanted and walked away. I actually grabbed a set with a few missing so i sat them down somewhere and went back later to find a set with them all there. Walmart security said they saw me take them off and put them in my ears. now this is false and i know the cameras will prove me right. i was wondering how good they can see because i want to make sure it shows goign through the store and NOT stealing them. I dont want it to be blurry. But if it is can is there any other way they can prosecute me. Its he said she said. I konw he lied and the cameras will tell. But what if they arent that great of cameras. Is what he says enough to convict me?

Re: Shoplifting

This is a case of misdemeanor retail theft, which the state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt. In light of this, the testimony of a Walmart security guard alone is probably not enough to establish your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Did the video cameras capture everything that transpired? This is a serious matter for which you should seek immediate legal counsel.
