Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I got into a situation with my ex girl friend. I went to her house to talk to her and a guy she is starting to date was there. I did not want to knock on the door so I walked to the back yard trying to settle my thoughts. The neighbors called the police on me thinking I was a prowler. The cop went in to tell her I was outside the house. She didn't press charges but told the cop that she wanted no contact with me anymore. I really would like to apologize to her and let her know that I was not trying to make a scene etc. I really value her friendship. What is the best way to relay that message to her? I don't think she will call the cops If I am apologizing but just not sure.

Send her a letter and leave it at that. At this point, she's already on record telling the police she wanted no more contact with you. The next step for her is a no contact order from the court. Avoid all of that by having no physical or voice contact with her. A simple letter in the mail expressing just your apology and not requesting additional contact (thus leaving this in her court so to speak) is the most you should do at this time.
