Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

My son is deployed to Afghanistan and is being accused of theft by someone in his unit. Apparently a connex and $5,000 worth of equipment is missing. He says he did not take it says it wasn't his responisbility to have control over it. So I need some legal help. What can he do and who does he need to talk to?

First, has the person accusing your son of theft filed criminal charges against your son? Since your son is in Afghanistan it is impossible for him to appear in court on his own behalf and nothing can really be done until his return. If the case has been brought into court by the accuser through a summons as opposed to an arrest, then you/your son will need to speak to an attorney about resolving this matter.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss your matter further,
