Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I was told today that since I was not present on the grounds of my place of business that I can not press charges against a man for making verbal threats to my staff and scaring my residents. I own a small assisted living. Is this true. I have this recorded on tape.

Depends on the charges you want to bring. Please feel free to call us as we need more detail 800 793 9859. For an assault, terroristic charge, or charge based on threats you would need to be the direct "victim," but for a misdemeanor DP charge you might qualify as a victim as the premises operator.
