Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I told a woman in a public place she was a loser and a liar. I have been getting calls from police in the town she lives in. I was not loud or did not threaten her. I have tried contacting the officer who has been calling. He is never available when I call. He called last night and left a message he would have to send an officer to my home. Is this harassment on his part ? Can I sue him ?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You need to contact an attorney ASAP. Do not discuss anything with the police.Anything you say can and will be used against you. An experienced attorney can explain you side of the story to the police. No, it is not harassment. He is likely doing his job. Stay away, and nicely inform him that you have legal counsel (once you have hired same). Ask him to please discontinue contacting you, and to call Attorney________________.
