I was a victim of a battery. The police are calling it a city battery that the state will not pick up. I would like to see a punishment for the crime. What would be the punishment in Illinois ?

Insufficient facts. You have no control over whether the crime will be prosecuted. If you suffered personal injuries (a battery can be as little as an unwanted touch) and can prove the event and the medical and other costs, you could sue in civil court.
