Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Victim of crime and fraud

5 Months ago I went to one of the biggest supermarkets in Chicago to buy something. When I paid I left my wallet on the counter. It was stolen by a delivery person. I called 911 and the Police came and we went into the Supermarket and checked te security tape and it showed what happened. Based on that video tape the Policeman issued a theft report and sent the case to a detective. The thief was identified and the case was sent to Court. The thief pleaded not guilty. During the second hearing the Detective was supposed to show the security footage but she said that the footage was erased in the Supermarket but she said that she saw the footage and can testify to that. I am frustrated by this and it is obvious that the supermarket deliberatly erased this footage in order to sabotage the Investigation. I and the Police as well as the surpetmarket employee saw this tape and based on this the culprit was identified. I would like to file a law suit against the supermarket for this fraudulent act also I am afraid that the case will be dismissed due to lack of the footage. Also I am unsatisfied with the Police who did not provide me and Court with a copy of the footage . What should I do? Is there a Lawyer who can take this case?
