Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Violent offender files false police report 3 months after his arrest

Three months ago, I was the victim of a violent crime, the offender was apprehended and arrested a few days later. He made his first court appearance last month but did not accept the plea bargain or enter a plea. Now, I have received a summons which says that I have to appear in court AS THE DEFENDANT in the crime in which he assaulted me. He has filed some kind of perverse false report, apparently that is his concept of how to evade prosecution. How could this possibly be allowed to happen, and how can I have this obviously frivolous claim dismissed? Something is drastically wrong with this whole picture.
