Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I need to know what will happen if you are summons to testify in court over a domestic fight and you chose not to press charges against the person what will happen.
1 Answer from Attorneys
If the prosecution wants to press the issue it could try to get you cited for contempt but that really won't make you a happy camper witness and so if you're the only witness they have they may just drop the case. But it's just rude to waste everyone's time by simply failing to show up so you should let them know ahead of time.
