Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

My x girlfriend recently had a order of protection served to me, court is next week for it, it states some very negative abuse and on order it is marked as "independent proceeding". Can this possibly lead to jail when I go to court on date. Its a temporary order but expires on day of court.

Maybe. The order of protection in and of itself could not put you in jail, but if the abuse is bad the prosecutor could decide to bring charges against you. If you do not appear for the hearing the order will likely be made into a 2 year order.

Call if you want to discuss.
