Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Illinois

My girlfriend is in beauty school, and they just recently changed their rules stating that if their clothing isn't "nice" they will get sent home, which is a problem because graduation lies solely on hours spent at school. The issue I have here is that the determination of what's "nice" or not is up to the staffs discretion. This strikes me as discriminatory because if the instructor just doesn't like what a student is wearing, they could send them home, hindering their progress in class. Any help?

Discrimination is not always unlawful. For example, I can open a restaurant and say you must wear a suit and tie to be seated, or that no attorneys are allowed. Only certain circumstances of discrimination based on race, national origin, sex, age, etc., is unlawful. So, yes, the beauty school can certainly send people home based on inappropriate attire. In essence, there is no law against discrimination based on attire.
