Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Illinois
Would I be able to recover for damages for being wrongly accused of retail theft, or will the shallow apology by the store manager be my only recourse and compensation allowed by law?

It depends. If the accusation was made without regard to the need for privacy in this situation you may have a cause of action for your actual damages, such as the loss of employment. It is difficulat to give a definitive answer without knowing all the facts related to the incident.
