Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Illinois

Unfairly Terminated/Discrimination

I was terminated from a summer camp because I exposed the disorganization and miscommunication present in the camp. The program, academic and assistant directors dropped the ball on my programming and scheduling, apologized and fired me hours after shaking my hand indicating we were''cool.'' The program director said I was fired because of complaints and didn't give me specifics saying head office could give me those. I called and owner said due to the contract I sign they can terminate me for no reason at all. I did sign this but there has to be some flexibility in the law. Who should I contact?

Re: Unfairly Terminated/Discrimination

It's hard to determine if you have a cause of action based on the bit of information you've stated. It is against the law to terminate an employee in retaliation for whistle-blowing, but it's unclear as to whether your actions will rise to that level. However, it IS clear that you qualify for unemployment, so you might as well go ahead and file with IDES if you haven't done so already.
