was 17 and caught consumption(not driving) of alcohol by college campus security,released to mom no ticket,got letter to have meeting w/ a probation officer who referred me to a alcohol and drug center for evaluation, with no ticket do i have to go? and this happened in different county than i lived in in illinois.

It sounds to me as if you have been given an opportunity to avoid being charged in court with a criminal violation. I would suggest that you take advantage of the opportuinity.
