In Mo we really don't apply for a pro bono attorney. If you face jail time you can request the public defender to represent you. You do this by asking the judge and based upon your finances, he will decide whether you qualify. If you do, the judge will appoint the local public defender's office to represent you. If you do not qualify, you will need to obtain private counsel. Only on rare circumstances will a judge appoint a private attorney and request the attorney take it pro bono. Good luck to you.
