Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

Cleared DUI and Insurance

After being charged with a DUI, I received a fine, six month suspension of my drivers license and after (one)year probation would be cleared from my record. Does this include my ''driving record'' for purposes such as applying for new car insurance? I do not want to lie but if this is not on my record and therefore not a factor I certainly do not want the increased rate. The DUI occured in Oklahoma, and the probation period was completed November 2001.

Thanks

Re: Cleared DUI and Insurance

I wish to state that I'm not an Oklahoma attorney, so I have NO familiarity with Oklahoma law whatsoever. However, I believe that Oklahoma has reciprocity with Illinois. Therefore, given the facts which you have given, it would appear that you can expect that this DUI would be on your Illinois record as well. To be sure, you would have to check your driving record with the Illinois Secretary of State. In my experience, these jurisdictional questions can get complicated. I would urge you to spend a few bucks and hire a lawyer. GOOD LUCK! Oh, it can be nasty if you lie to your insurer. Don't do that!
