Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

Legal stop?

I was pulled over at 2 in the morning because i apparently did not pull away fast enough when the light turned green. There was a cop right behind me. I had a friend in the car which i was talking to at the time. I was distracted for only a couple of seconds. This is the reason that the cop gave to me for pulling me over. He repeatedly asked if I had anything to drinkn (at least 3 times), and I repeatedly said no. Plus he asked where i was coming from (T. Bell, friends house), where he lived and the such.

He went to his car for a couple of minutes, came back and said to drive carefully. It was obvious he was looking for me to admit that i had at least something to drink, and i guess that he realized that he didn't have anything and let me go.

Was this a proper stop?
