Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

Hi,

I live in Illinois, Im 25 years old.

10 years ago in Wisconsin when I was 15 I got stopped for driving without a license

and taken in for a D.U.I., my blood alcohol level was .10 I went back home to Illinois and never went to any court date or anything. They never sent me anything in the mail regarding either. Basically it had gotten forget about by me because of the time that past. 10 years is a while. I have never had a license. Not then and not now. Recently i bought a car and went to try to get my illinois drivers license. For the reasons above I was denied, I contacted the state of Wisconsin and they told me I need to get a Illinois state certified alcohol assessment done. Gave me the numbers to places I could go and also told me that besides the assessment I needed to go to classes? or prove that i went to classes in the past for alcohol? Now I understand, I screwed up...I was 15.

I was homeless, a runaway and I did used to drink back then on a regular basis.

But I am about to be 26, for the past 9 years I have been getting my life on track, I've held down a steady job, I dont drink unless its a holiday or birthday (special occasion) I dont do drugs, I just want to live my life like a normal human being. I just feel Like going to classes now is completely irrelevant considering this charge was dated 10 years back. Im at a completely different place in my life. And all the places I have contacted in my state so far seem to keep trying to add new fee's on and other things that I have to do.

Basically I just want this done and over with, I want to be able to live my life without being restricted by a mistake I made when I was a kid. Is there anything I can do besides what they tell me I have to do?

Any other way around this situation?

And now that I think about it...how could they release me on my own when I was a 15 year old runaway?

The next day after I got arrested, nobody came and picked me up, i wasnt held, they just showed me the door and told me to walk where i needed to go. That doesnt seem to right to me. Any help is greatly appreciated and Im sorry I typed so much im just so sick of dealing with this at the moment. Thank you for reading. any response is greatly appreciated...
