NY DUI with a IL Driver's License
Here's the situation. I received an DWAI in NY in 2002 and IL got wind and revoked my license for 1 year. This revokation was up in Feb of 2004. In April of 2003 I received a DUI in NY and this was classified as a 1st offense. I did not know about IL's revokation at that time. Now here's the problem, I have just now found out from the Administration of Hearings, IL has now revoked my license for 5 years as of March of 2004. Since my license was revoked for the DWAI, doesn't this mean that officially that IL should not have been able to add on the 5 years? I was a resident of NY at the time of both incidents, the only difference is that the 1st time I had an IL license, the 2nd I was basically an unlicensed individual in the state of NY and could have been charged as such in NY if they wanted. I currently live in NJ now and I am a resident of NJ, I have not resided in IL since March 2002. What can I do to restore my license? My penalties and fines have been paid in NY. NY suspended my priveledges for 6 months for the DUI in 2003. I need some advice on how to deal with the issue of the 2 states, mainly IL though. Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Re: NY DUI with a IL Driver's License
Greetings-
The question that I pose to you is which state
do you have a driver's license from. If you
have an Illinois license, you have really got
a problem. If you have a New Jersey or New York
license it is possible that either of those state's laws will supercede any legal determination in Illinois as to your driving
status in those states, but don't get caught
driving in Illinois. There are other questions
that I have that only you have the answer to.
My advice to you is to get representation immediately and don't drive, until you have
all the answers.
