Can a school administrator search a teacher's private hard drives

If the hard drive is in the open, on a table or desk, yes. If it is in a briefcase or purse, no, but they will probably get away with it. If the carrying device is with the teacher or, say in the teacher's lounge maybe.no
Advice: Use a flash drive and carry it with you, in a pocket, for example.Ordering you to empty your pockets would be a serious violation.
