Legal Question in Education Law in Illinois
What can be done about a school board member who coaches his daughters team and intimidates everyone in administration and bullies players and humiliates seniors by benching them and not giving them the same opportunity as his own daughter no morals

Hello. In my opinion, a grievance should be filed against this board member. The issue is whether he has a conflict of interest and should simultaneously serve as board member and coach. Based upon the facts provided by you, he does! It may be necessary to file a lawsuit seeking an injunction which would prohibit him from continuing to coach while a school board
member. The intimidation and bullying could result in him be sued and held liable for negligent infliction of emotional distress. Our office handled a case last year in the Chicago area involving negligent infliction of emotional distress by a teacher and we successfully settled the matter for our client. The same law should apply for a board member/coach who intimidates administration personnel and team players. Anyone enduring this abuse should retain an attorney and take action. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
