Legal Question in Education Law in Illinois
School liability for child injury
A child hurts her leg and has a note to get out of gym for a week. The first day the note expires, the child tells the gym teacher her leg still hurts and should play. The teacher makes her play soccer without shin guards. She gets hurt again. Is the school liable for the medical bills?

Re: School liability for child injury
Probably not because the school relied on the Doctor's note. It's like a return to work note - if the Doctor says you can return to work after the 12th and you are not there on the 13th, the boss is not happy.
I doubt that the Doctor is liable either because it's only an (very) educated guess. To build on my previous example, if you are not feeling well on the 11th or the 12th it's up to you to see the Doctor and get an extension.
