my father has begun showing signs of dementia, which have increased exponentially after a recent infection and hospital stay. his ex-wife is using his dementia as a way to swindle more money and assets from him. i hate seeing him taken advantage of, and this woman certainly seems to know what she's doing, and lies to him about my protective intentions. what are my options in attempting to protect his and my late mother's assets?

Hello. I suggests that you file a Disabled Person's Estate in the jurisdiction where your father resides. You can have the petition filed by a licensed attorney. Your father would be served with notice and at the first court date the Judge will appoint an impartial attorney as a temporary guardian ad litem to visit your father and report back to the court whether he is able to manage his affairs. The court could then appoint you guardian if the guardian ad litem reports that your father is mentally incapacitated.. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
