My parents are co-owners of a farm with their daughter They are going into a nursing home. Can anything be done to keep the farm safe?

What do you mean by safe? If the property is in your sister's name jointlly with your parents, it would appear that they already made a decision about there estate plan. If your parents are competent and wish to change their estate plan, then they should discuss that with an attorney.
