stop payment on bank issued check as ''gift''
Several years ago my elderly uncle gave another relative a check issued by his bank as a ''gift''. This man changed his mind and stopped payment 2 days later (check given on weekend when bank closed). Did he have the right? How long would he have had to stop payment if he had not done so, so promptly? Thank you.

Re: stop payment on bank issued check as ''gift''
Hello. Legally, your uncle had a right to change his mind. There was
no consideration for this payment, according to your posting. Therefore,
he could decide that he no longer wanted to make this gift. He had a right to do this at anytime. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
