Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Illinois
I am a high school baseball assistant at the varisty level. I signed a contract at the beginning of the yaer that entitled me a salary pay in two disbursements throughout the season. I just recently took a job that would make me miss ten games and 8 practices out of the year. We play over 30 games. The head coach and athletic director , without telling me or without me present , decided they would divide my second check up into thirds to split with two other coaches who are at the freshman and sophomore level. is this legal to do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends on the terms of the contract. From the details you provide, it does not appear unreasonable--since you are working less than they contemplated they should be allowed to pay you less than you contemplated.
