Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Illinois
legal music
I have been ask to play oldies music at a car show in Will County Illinois, I would not be payed for this but there would be a entrance charge. What can I legally play or not play if anything.

Without a license you cannot play any copyrighted music. You should contact BMI or ASCAP.

Hello. This issue is not what you can play, but whether you can play.
You should make certain that you do not need an entertainment license.
Otherwise, in my opinion, you should
be able to play the music you want to play as long as you are not recording the music for release on a cd etc.
