Re: Music Copyright

Copyright is automatic upon creation, so the band already has a copyright on the CD. However, to enforce that copyright it is necessary to register the copyright with the library of congress. The Government fee is currently $30.00 and a simple 2 page form is required, which form will become the registration when "registered" by the Registrar of Copyrights. If you have a computer with Internet access, the website is www.loc.gov/copyright. It is useful to have a copyright attorney prepare and file the form so you know it is done properly. An attorney will typically charge about $230 to complete and file the form including the fee.

I have an office in Alton, IL and would be happy to assist you as I have other bands in obtaining a copyright registration.
