Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Illinois
photos for book
I'm writing a coffee table book featuring photos of abandoned buildings
and houses. Do I need to track down the owners of these buildings and
get written permission to use them? (I want interiors shots, so I'll
probably have to anyway).

Re: photos for book
It is always best to try and obtain a location release from the property owner whenever possible. Even if a house is no longer lived in, it is still owned by someone or some entity (bank, the state, etc.) Obey all property signs if there are any posted. The last thing you want is to be arrested for trespassing!
Property ownership records are maintained by each county. Good luck...
