Legal Question in Environmental Law in Illinois
I have owned a home on Litchfield Lake for more than 30 years. We have been a under the ordinances of Montgomery County. The city of Litchfield is the caretaker of the Lake. All of the homes on the lake operate septic systems. The city of Litchfield is now in the process of annexing all of the homeowners lake property. By coming into the city limits, does Litchfield municipality have any obligation to extend sewer service to the annexed homes under Illinois statutes ?

I don't think they do, but would have to research the issue to say for sure. Think about it. If they had that obligation under IL state law, then every property within any municipality in the state would have sewer. I don't think that is true.
