Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I have a 14 year old who has lived with her mother since she was born. I live in Florida and the child and mother live in Illinois. I have been paying child support since the child was born but it was an arrangement between the mother and I verbally and not court ordered. Now the child has enters rehab and I want to know if I can stop the child support payments since the child will not live with the mother for the next six months.

If there is no court or administrative order, then you can stop any time you wish. If there is an order, then you can not stop.

I would ad that if there is a court order you will have to return to court to seek a modification.
