Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
17 year old rights
I have a very close family friend that is 17 years old and she has a lot of family issues. Her dad in New Jersey wants to see her all the time and her mom respects that. She sends her to New Jersey with her father periodically. The problem with her dads house is that her step mom abuses her. She hates going to visit her dad because of the step mom. When she came back to live with her mom in Dallas, Texas, her step dad tried to sexually abused her. She was sent to live with her aunt in Chicago so that her mother and step dad in Dallas could deal things out. Her aunt in Chicago cannot afford to let her live with her in Chicago. They dont have enough money for her and room in the 2-bedroom apartment with 4 other kids.
She wants to live with us because she knows she can continue school here in Dallas, Texas. She knows she cant live with her mom or dad because of domestic problems. Her grades are dropping because she moves back and forth from Dallas to Chicago to New Jersey all the time. She needs a stable home to continue her life and education.
My question is, is that can she legally--name removed--allowed to live in Dallas, Texas with my family (which both my parents have agreed to take custody of her)?

Re: 17 year old rights
If the minor's parents agree, she can live with you.
If they don't agree, she is an adult the day she turns 18. On her birthday, she can do whatever she wants.
Good luck!
