Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My 13 year old son's father bought him a pellet rifle. I told my son he was not allowed to play with it because of the possiblity of injury to himself or someone else; or damage to someone's property. He went with his father this past weekend and took the rifle with him under the direction of his father. Needless to say, I was livid. If my son is with his father and under his supervision, which is every other weekend, am I liable for any incidents that my son is responsible for?

First of all, I am not sure what 'incidents' you are worried about. A pellet gun is not a machine gun. If he is being properly supervised by the father, it sounds like you need to realize that your son has two parents, not one.
You are livid because you do not get to lay the law down even when your son is with the other parent. Unfortunately for you, the father is also seen by the court as having the same rights to make decisions on behalf of the child as you do. My advise is to relax, realize that if you trusted the father enough to have unprotected sex with him (and thus you knew there was a good chance he would be raising a child with you), you should trust him to make sure the child does not shoot his eye out.
