Hello. If your ex is abusive to the child or if there is a risk of abuse, you need to file a petition for supervised visitation or ask the court to suspend visitation while your ex gets treatment for his abusive behavior. You have a remedy. You should act on this as soon as possible for your protection and for the protection of your child. I will be happy to assist and/or answer any additional questions you may have.

obtain a court order.
email me if you have any questions.
Re: Abuse
As the previous answers mention, you have to get a court order. But you have to remember that if at all possible, the court will work to facilitate some parent/child interaction if at all possible. Keep in mind that your husband gets to see his child because its (normally) in the best interest for children to see their parents. If the ex-husband's behavior threatens the child, then of course you must take action. But even then, the court may arrange for supervised visitation. You can contact me for a free consultation if you like and I can go over your options.
