Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Adopted child's rights after a death

I have 2 children, my husband has 6 children, one of the six is adopted. I have been told that the adopted son has more rights in the event of my husbands death than the biological children and possibly more rights to the estate than myself. Is this correct? Thank you.

Re: Adopted child's rights after a death

No, that's not right. You have the rights of a surviving spouse. The adopted child has the same rights as the biological children.
