a friend wants to give up her baby for adoption. since we are not going through an agency, is this cheaper to do?

Hello. In my opinion you will be able to avoid some costs. Of course I recommend that you retain a lawyer to assist. You will want to be clear on whether the biological mother will want to remain in contact with you and the child. This is a very important issue.
