adoption rights

i signed away the rights to my children with a verbal agreement with my ex-husband that he would send pictures and let me write the children which has never happend but the problem i am having is that i never received any papers as to the effects of what happend i recentlly went to see my ex-husband and he said i could write the children after which i received a letter from his lawyer saying to not try to contact the children but i want to know what the papers say how do i get a copy of them i could use your help in any way please help

Hello. This is a very serious problem. From

your question I am assuming that in a written

agreement you signed away your rights to your

children. However, it is questionable whether

this is a binding agreement. Generally, the

courts will look very closely at agreements which

call for the mother to sign away her parental

rights. It appears from your question that your

ex-husband may not have been honest with you when

he said that you would get pictures of your children and could right them. In fact, it is

clear that you may not have wanted to terminate

your parental rights, but were willing to let

your children reside with you. You may want to

consider getting into court and asking the judge

to set aside this agreement in the best interest

of your children. I will be happy to answer
