Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I followed the advice I received at this site and was able to locate the nursing home where my Mother is in Azle, Texas. I learned my uncle does not have guardianship of her.
Unfortunately the home will not tell me anything about her condition or even if I can see her . She is in Texas and I am in Illinois.
Do I need a court order? What is the petition to the court named. I know I will need an attorney before this mess is over but because I have limited funds I am trying to do what I can first.
I can not afford to go to Texas only to be denied access to her or her records which is what the nursing seems to be prepared to do.Our phone conversations yesterday were very unsatisfactioy.
1 Answer from Attorneys
It may not be what you want to hear, but you really need to consult with an attorney in Texas. Preferably an attorney located in the same county as your mother. In the alternative you could contact a local bar association and ask to be referred to an attorney in Illinois that is also licensed in Texas and is experienced in elder/probate law.
