Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Alimony

My ex-wife is receiving mantenance from me until she makes an annual income of $30,000. Does the roughly $3,000 a year count as part of that annual income? Does the child support she receives from her first husband count? Is there a way to verify her income? If I find out that her monthly income will equate to $30,000 or more by the end of the year can I stop payment once that is discovered? And if it is the case that she will earn $30,000 at the end of the year, would I have to go through the courts to make it legal for me to stop the payments without repercussions?

Re: Alimony

Your maintenance payments and child support payments DO NOT count toward the 30 grand mark. The only way to verify her income is to bring her back to court to examine her tax returns and or pay stubs. No, you can not stop paying, you will need to have a court order which states you are no longer required to pay maintenance.
