Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I applied for cash assistance and they are requiring me to make and keep my appointments with child support. I do not want the father's wages garnished because he buys everything for the baby and does it all on his own and I do not see a reason to garnish wages as long as he cooperates. Is there anyway that the state can garnish his wages without my consent?

As long as you are receiving cash assistance federal law requires that you cooperate with DHS in obtaining a support order against the Dad. If you want to drop out of the assistance program and pay what you received back, MAYBE they will stop. Other wise, when you signed up for assistance you signed papers where you agreed to cooperate in pursuing a support order.
